Are you an AI Doer, a Planner, or an AI Realist?

We’ve all heard the phrase "fail to plan, plan to fail," but in the age of AI, I believe that is too simplistic.
I call myself an “AI Realist”, neither pushing AI as the bet thing since sliced bread nor propagating unrealistic fear of “Skynet” taking over the planet. This means I embrace the "doing"; jumping in with both feet to use generative AI—while simultaneously "planning" how to use it responsibly to maximize value.
Many people treat AI like a modern Google search, but that is lazy thinking. True AI Literacy isn’t just about generating outputs; it is having the ability to read, write, and evaluate these technologies with a enhanced set of soft and hard skills.
Without AI Literacy, the gap between those using AI and those who don't is like a knight from the dark ages trying to fight a modern Navy Seal; it’s simply not a fair fight.
I view AI Literacy maturity at three distinct levels:
1. Illiteracy: Exposure without understanding (reacting, not reasoning).
2. Literacy: Understanding with use (knowing benefits and limits).
3. Fluency: Judgment with responsibility (understanding risks and consequences).
To move from "exposure" to "judgment," we must master meta-skills like Metacognition (thinking about your own thinking) and Epistemic Humility (knowing what you don’t know).
Where do you stand on the ladder of AI maturity?
As the founder of real-human.ai Inc., I am offering coaching and advisory services to help individuals, families, seniors, small business owners, technical and non-technical professionals, and executives navigate this shift in understanding. I have developed a framework to evaluate, explore and develop these skills and am offering a Free AI Literacy Assessment to help benchmark your own current understanding.
